Ear Infection

Ear infections are very common, especially in children. When we get them, we don’t always know where to turn for help.

Fordingbridge Chemist can help with free NHS treatment for middle ear infections (otitis media) for those 17 years and under the Pharmacy First service, including antibiotics if clinically appropriate. Please pop into the pharmacy and speak with the team. The symptoms of a middle ear infection usually start quickly and include pain inside the ear (earache), a high temperature, difficulty hearing, discharge running out of the ear, a feeling of pressure or fullness inside the ear. Many ear infections get better within 3 to 7 days without specific treatment.

We can also help patients with prescription strength medications for an outer ear infection (otitis externa). Symptoms of an outer ear infection include pain, itching, and redness in and around the ear canal, as well as discharge, swelling, and a feeling of fullness. You may also experience hearing loss, a tender ear when you move it or chew, and sometimes swollen lymph nodes in the throat.

Simply complete a short health consultation and we can dispense your medication without you needing to see your GP.
