Hepatitis A is a viral infection transmitted via the faecal-oral route, either by ingestion of contaminated food and water or by direct contact with an infectious person, causing fever and jaundice. The Hepatitis A virus is common in areas with inadequate sanitation and limited access to clean water.
Travellers should take care with food, water and personal hygiene.
