Acne
Acne
Acne is a common skin condition characterized by spots, oily skin, and sometimes painful, inflamed lumps on the face, back, and chest. Acne can cause a range of emotions, including low self-esteem, embarrassment, self-consciousness, anxiety, stress, and depression. These feelings can negatively impact a person’s quality of life.
Don’t worry, there are treatments available, these aim to reduce severity and to prevent recurrence and scaring.
An appropriate skin care regime can help:
- Gentle cleansing: Wash your skin no more than twice a day with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water to avoid irritation.
- Avoid harsh products: Stay away from aggressive scrubbing, astringents, and masks, as they can worsen acne.
- Use correct products: Choose oil-free, water-based, and non-comedogenic products to prevent clogged pores.
- Don’t pick: Avoid squeezing or picking at pimples to prevent scarring.
- Remove makeup: Always remove all makeup before going to bed.
- After exercise: Shower as soon as possible after exercising to wash away sweat, which can irritate the skin.
- Manage hair: Wash your hair regularly and try to keep it from falling across your face.
