Sore Throat / Strep A Test and Treat

Do you need help with a SORE THROAT? Sore throats are very common and usually nothing to worry about. They are often viral and normally get better by themselves within 7 to 8 days. At Fordingbridge Chemist you can purchase pain killers, lozenges and throat sprays which will help make it more comfortable to eat, drink, sleep and function.

If needed, our pharmacist can now provide NHS and private treatment and some prescription medicine without seeing a GP.

Have you had a FEVER in past 24 hours?
Do you NOT have a cough or nasal congestion?
Did your sore throat START IN LAST 3 DAYS?
Do you have WHITE SPOTS on your tonsils?
Are your tonsils SEVERELY INFLAMED?

If you answered YES to 4 or 5 of these questions, we may be able to supply you with NHS antibiotics if they are appropriate, to help with a bacterial infection.
If you answered YES to 2 or 3 of these questions, you could make yourself comfortable and wait to see if things improve or worsen. Or with a positive Strep A test result, we could supply antibiotics with a charge.
