Flu Test and Treat

Tamiflu can help prevent the flu, and it can help you get over flu symptoms faster. Tamiflu is an antiviral medication called oseltamivir. It’s suitable for people with flu symptoms and can shorten how long you feel unwell for. If you’ve been exposed to someone with the flu, you can also use Tamiflu as a preventative medication.

Tamiflu is not a replacement for the flu vaccine, but it can offer extra support throughout flu season if you develop symptoms or have been around someone else with the flu.

Tamiflu may be supplied for treatment of influenza following a positive test kit result, within 48 hours of symptoms. And for post-exposure prevention following contact with a person who has had recent influenza symptoms, within 48 hours, when influenza virus is circulating in the community.
